Keynote Speaking Mark Boey

Master Of Motion 2023

So, you know that famous quote by Bruce Lee, right? “Be like the water.” Let’s see how this mindset applies in the creative industry, especially with all the economic uncertainty, technological disruption, and globalisation. But instead of freaking out, it encourages us to be flexible, collaborate, and strive for continuous improvement.
Now, let me share a bit about my own personal experience. Back then, I had hyperlexia, which made verbal communication a real struggle. But I managed to overcome it, and it taught me a thing or two. So, here are three key points I’ve learned along the way: failure, fearlessness, and feeling.
Failure is not the end of the world; it’s a stepping stone to success. Embracing failure means being open to taking risks, trying new things, and not being afraid of making mistakes. We learn and grow through failure, so we shouldn’t let it discourage us in the creative industry.
Next up is fearlessness. Being fearless means stepping out of our comfort zones and challenging ourselves. It’s about being bold, pushing boundaries, and exploring new ideas. In the face of economic uncertainty, technological disruptions, and globalisation, being fearless allows us to adapt and innovate rather than being overwhelmed by the changes.
Lastly, feeling. In the creative industry, it’s essential to tap into our emotions and create work that resonates with people. Being in touch with our feelings helps us connect deeper and produce significant and impactful work. It’s about infusing our passion and authenticity into everything we do.
So, by adopting this “be like the water” mindset, professionals in the creative industry can navigate the ever-changing landscape with ease. It’s all about being flexible, collaborating, and constantly striving for improvement. With this approach, we can find fulfilment in our creative endeavours and confidently ride the waves of uncertainty.
